About Me

I have an extensive background in journalism, higher education, marketing, advertising, digital content, healthcare, and travel writing. I have 10 years of experience in higher education advertising, marketing, outreach, and internal communications, along with 20 years of experience as a writer, editor, and proofreader for various clients such as the LA Times, Allergan, Fodor's Travel Guides, and the U.S. Department of State.


I'm an adjunct lecturer at Cal State Fullerton, Chapman University, Santa Ana College, and Santiago Canyon College, teaching journalism, business communication, case analysis, rhetoric and composition, critical thinking, technical writing, and new media. I also offer editing and proofreading services for fiction and non-fiction books (references available upon request), literary anthologies, and indie video games. I hold an MA in English and an MFA in creative writing from Chapman University.

IRVINE VALLEY COLLEGE

Lead editor, writer, designer, proofreader, and/or coordinator for a variety of college publications, including marketing/public relations and outreach materials, internal communications, and special events. Collateral examples included all print and digital advertising and marketing, in-house and external emails and letters, accreditation materials, academic catalogs, handbooks, signage, photography, event flyers and programs, website copy, press releases, executive correspondence, annual publications, departmental and program brochures, television and movie theater commercials, Spotify ads, stationery, and cards. Created and maintained editorial style guide. Created projects in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, etc., ranging in scope from bookmarks to 400-page print books to websites. Coordinated entire process, including concept development, client relations, soliciting content, writing, publication design, layout, proofreading and editing, vendor negotiations, and print production. Proofread all college materials. Advanced certification in Digarc's Acalog electronic academic catalog management tool. Photography duties as needed. Transitioned in February 2022 to as-needed part-time role.
